WWTP upgrade for urban reuse and operation

One of our recent project is the upgrade and operation of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of the EverEden Beach Resort Hotel in Athenian Reviera (www.evereden.gr), where a large renovation and expansion project took place transforming a known old-fashioned hotel to the most modern 4-star resort and spa of the wider area. Based on the client’s needs, treated wastewater should be used for irrigation of open spaces without constraints (urban reuse), protecting at the same time the human health and the environment.

During this assignment we monitor the WWTP for two years and a series of changes and works were recommended to the client, including incorporation of ultrafiltration at the end of the treatment train. All these works above were closely supervised by ENYDRON and the upgraded WWTP is operated since 2019 demonstrating very high performance.

EIA of the new Avdou Retreat Collection hotel (100 beds)

The objective of this project was the design of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of the Avdou Retreat Collection, a new 4-star hotel at Avdou, Crete.

The challenging issues of this assignment include to design a reliable treatment system taking into account the needs of the hotel and the high-quality treatment required in order to reuse treated wastewater for “restricted irrigation” for the open spaces of the hotel but also for arable land close the hotel. Therefore, a comprehensive treatment system including biological treatment, filtration and disinfection, was designed and constructed. The hotel started its operation in 2019 and the treated effluent meets the legislation quality requirements.

EIA of the renovation and expansion of the EverEden Resort Hotel (700 beds)

We are very proud for conducting the environmental permitting of the renovation and expansion of the EverEden Beach Resort Hotel (www.evereden.gr). EverEden Beach Resort Hotel is a well-known 4-star hotel located in Athenian Reviera. The objective of this project was to transform an old-fashioned hotel to the most modern 4-star resort and spa of the wider area and made the appropriate changes to achieve wastewater treatment suitable for irrigation of the hotel’s open spaces without constraints (“urban reuse” according to the Greek law).

The tasks of this assignment were a) to re-design the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to achieve the desirable treatment and b) elaborate the EIA study for the environmental permitting of the whole project. WWTP were redesigned and the additional processes of denitrification, ultrafiltration and UV disinfection were added. Regarding EIA elaboration, the environmental and social background were described, the impacts were identified and assessed, and a series of mitigation measures were determined. The new EverEden Beach Resort Hotel starts its operation in the summer of 2019 and WWTP operated successfully meeting the standards of the urban reuse.
